takes over THE CROWN (October 28, 2018)
Martin Phipps has taken over scoring
duties on the upcoming third season of THE CROWN. The first
two seasons were scored by Rupert Gregson-Williams with the
main theme provided by Hans Zimmer and with additional music
by various composers also including Guy Farley on season 1.
Similar changes happened also in front of the camera with
Olivia Coleman taking over the lead role from Claire Foy. The
3rd series will be covering mid 1960s to late 1970s.
Series 3 is in production and
expected to be released next year.

WE (October 16, 2018)
Martin Phipps has joined forces with
Matt Dunkley and Janal Bechthold and collaborated on the
score for WE. Directed by Mani Nasry who also starts in the
movie as Ethan, a man with great ambitions and a big heart,
who must face many obstacles, some that threaten to halt his
quest. Set on filling an emptiness left by the death of his
parents years ago, Ethan can't seem to find that one
connection we all desire. Yet he continues moving forward
despite the many drawbacks he faces.
The movie will be released in Canada on
November 14th.
THE AFTERMATH
first trailer released (October 16, 2018)
The first trailer for upcoming THE
AFTERMATH was just released and you can watch it above. The
score was recorded almost a year ago at Air Studios in London
with Matt Dunkley conducting Chamber Orchestra of
London.
The movie is currently set for release on March 1 (UK) and
April 26 (US).
BLACK EARTH
RISING score released (October 10, 2018)
Dubois Records has released BLACK EARTH
RISING score album, which features rougly 28 minutes
of original score composed by Martin Phipps
with additional music by Patrick Jonsson. The score
is available to download from iTunes. The series premiered last month on
BBC Two in the UK and will debut in the U.S. and other markets
later this year on Netflix.

EARTH RISING (June 16,
2018)
Martin Phipps has been hired to score
upcoming series BLACK EARTH RISING. The story centers on Kate
Ashby (Michaela Coel), who was rescued as a young child during
the Rwandan genocide and adopted by Eve Ashby (Harriet
Walter), a British prosecutor. Kate was raised in Britain and,
now in her late 20s, works as a legal investigator in the law
chambers of Michael Ennis (John Goodman). Read this Variety article to find out more about the
project, which is expected to be released later this year by
BBC 2 and Netflix.
THE AFTERMATH:
Recording sessions started (November 25, 2017)
Martin Phipps has begun recording his
score for upcoming drama THE AFTERMATH this morning at
Air Lyndhurst Hall in London. Matt Dunkley is
conducting The Chamber Orchestra of London. So far no release
date of the film has been announced and no poster or trailer
are available as of today. Stay tuned for more information,
which will be added as soon as available.

New WILLIAMS
documentary released in UK cinemas (August 18, 2017)
Martin Phipps, Richard Spiller and
Isobel Waller-Bridge co-scored documentary WILLIAMS for
director Morgan Matthews, which was released earlier this
month in the UK. The feature length documentary focuses on the
career and family of legendary founder Sir Frank Williams and
tells the extraordinary story of the Williams Formula 1
team, from its inception to the present day.

hired to score THE AFTERMATH (June 12, 2017)
Martin Phipps has been hired to score
the upcoming period drama THE AFTERMATH. The film is directed
by James Kent (Testament of Youth) and stars Keira Knightley,
Alexander Skarsgard, Jason Clarke and Fionn O’Shea. The movie
based on the novel by Rhidian Brook takes place in the
aftermath of World War II and follows a British colonel and
his wife who are assigned to live in Hamburg during the
post-war reconstruction. The movie is expected to
premiere later this year and will be distributed by Fox
Searchlight.
WAR AND PEACE interview with

2017)
Martin Phipps was recently interviewed
by Gold Derby editor Zach Laws about his work on WAR AND PEACE
miniseries. The main topic covered include his schedule and
approach when scoring lengthy miniseries, working without temp
track, his work with choir in Riga and incorporating
electronics.

Award for WAR AND PEACE (May 18, 2017)
Congratulations to Martin Phipps who was awarded an Ivor
Novello Award for THE BEST TELEVISION SCORE for his score for
miniseries WAR AND PEACE last night. During the ceremony he
was also interviewed and you can watch one of the interviews
above.

pilot for Amazon (March 9, 2017)
Martin Phipps has composed the music for Amazon Studios
pilot OASIS. The show is created by Matt Charman (Bridge of
Spies) based on the novel The Book of Strange New Things by
Michel Faber and stars Richard Madden, Anil Kapoor, Michael
Shaw, Mark Addy, Haley Joel Osment, Maureen Sebastian, Michael
Shaffer and Zawe Ashton. The drama centers on a chaplain who
is sent into space to help establish a colony on a distant
planet. Kevin Macdonald directed the pilot. Oasis will
premiere on March 17 on Amazon and viewers will influence the
decision whether it will be picked up to series.
VICTORIA
soundtrack album released (January 12,
2017)
Dubois Records has released a soundtrack album for the ITV
limited series VICTORIA. The album features the show’s
original music composed by Martin Phipps (who provided the
main theme and scored the pilot episode) and Ruth Barrett
(Harry Brown, City of Tiny Lights, Hunted) with vocals from
the Mediaeval Baebes choir. The soundtrack is now available to
download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio
samples. VICTORIA will return with its second season on August
27th on ITV1.
