HERO December 01, 2015: WHISKY GALORE and MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS According to Film Music Reporter Patrick Doyle is currently scoring comedy WHISKY GALORE. The film is directed by Gillies MacKinnon (A Simple Twist of Faith) and stars Eddie Izzard, Gregor Fisher, John Sessions, Fenella Woolgar, Tim Piggott-Smith and Sean Biggerstaff. The movie is based on the novel by Compton MacKenzie and the 1949 film of the same title and centers around thereal-life 1941 shipwreck of the S.S. Politician, which ran aground with a cargo of 264,000 bottles of malt whisky. WHISKY GALORE is expected to premiere in 2016. To learn more about the comedy, visit the official movie website. In the meantime Kenneth Branagh is beginning pre-production on his remake of Agatha Christie's MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS. Branagh will also star in the movie as Hercule Poirot. So far no production schedule has been announced and news will be added as soon as available. November 30, 2015: THE WINTER'S PLAY Patrick Doyle and Kenneth Branagh recently returned to the theatre and collaborated on new adaptation of THE WINTER'S TALE. The play was co-directed by Branagh and Rob Ashford and starred Branagh and Judi Dench. L.A. October 29, 2015 : SENSE AND SENSIBILITY blu-ray with Isolated Score track Twilight Time will release special blu-ray edition of SENSE AND SENSIBILITY on November 10. June 03, 2015 : Patrick Doyle to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award at World Soundtrack Awards Patrick Doyle has been selected as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement award at the closing-night gala of the 15th World Soundtrack Awards at the Ghent Film Fest on October 24, 2015. Selections of the composer’s music will be performed live by the Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Dirk Brosse at the event. Among the composers that were previously honored with the award are John Barry, Marvin Hamlisch, Pino Donaggio, Francis Lai, Giorgio Moroder and Angelo Badalamenti. In addition, the music of Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump) and DanieL Pemberton (The Counselor, Steve Jobs) will also be celebrated at the concert. May 13, 2015 : Patrick Doyle: SHAKESPEARE IN CONCERT - Prague, Czech Republic Patrick Doyle will return to Prague to present concert of his scores from William Shakespeare adaptations, which will take place on August 21st, 2015 at Lichtenstein's Palace in Prague, Czech Republic. The concert, which is being prepared in collaboration between FILM MUSIC PRAGUE, PRAGUE SHAKESPEARE COMPANY and Annual SHAKESPEARE CELEBRATIONS will feature Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, Kuhn's Choir (conducted by James Shearman) as well actors from Prague Shakespeare Company who will be performing monologues and dialogues from Shakespeare's plays personally handpicked by Mr. Doyle himself. January 10, 2015: ENCHANTED KINGDOM 3D trailer New trailer of documentary ENCHANTED KINGDOM 3D was recently released and while the movie has been released in selected countries as early as December 2013, it has yet to receive wider release and hopefully accompanied by the score CD. August 25, 2014: FILM MUSIC PRAGUE Closing Night Gala with Patrick Doyle - Programme announced The programme of the closing night gala of FILM MUSIC PRAGUE on September 26th has been announced. The concert will feature Czech National Symphony Orchestra and Kuhn's Mixed Choir conducted by James Shearman. Two actors from Prague Shakespeare Company will be also present to perform various speeches from Shakespeare's plays MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, HAMLET and HENRY V. Gala with Patrick Doyle May 16, 2014: Patrick Doyle will attend FILM MUSIC PRAGUE festival Patrick Doyle has been confirmed as the 2nd guest of upcoming FILM MUSIC PRAGUE festival, which will take place on September 24-26th in Prague, Czech Republic. The festival will include two concerts - opening concert will feature The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir conducted by renowned Nic Raine performing selections from scores by Jerry Goldsmith as well as Elliot Goldenthal, who will be also attending the festival. Patrick Doyle's music will be performed during closing night's gala and will feature The Czech National Symphony Orchestra and Choir. Conductor and programme will be confirmed during next few weeks. April 16, 2014: FSMO Interview with Sir Kenneth Branagh New issue of Film Score Monthly Online has just published lengthy interview with Sir Kenneth Branagh discussing his collaboration with Patrick Doyle. Also available is a selection of recordings from recent concert with The Ulster Orchestra also including rare opportunity to hear several clips from the rehearsals including alternate version of Thor Kills the Destroyer with male choir (as originally intended) before the choir was dropped at Marvel's request. February 05, 2014: three new projects announced and new interview In recent interview for Goose Talk Patrick Doyle discussed not only his lengthy collaboration with Sir Kenneth Branagh including their latest project JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT but also offers a few hints regarding his upcoming plans: "I’m working with Mike Newell at the moment for the fourth time and he says I’m a complete romantic, because the first place I turn towards is the string section. They are also essential for giving you drive and energy and are “the backbone of the orchestra”, as I was taught at school. Everything completely revolves around them in many ways." So far there is actually no news about any new Mike Newell projects besides recently announced remake of The Day of the Triffids, Newell will be directing for Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures. Hopefully more information regarding this "mysterious" project will be revealed soon. In the meantime Film Music Reporter announced two new interesting projects Patrick Doyle will be working on next. The first is upcoming Dreamworks animation's B.O.O.: BUREAU OF OTHERWORLDLY OPERATIONS, which follows two bumbling apparitions who find themselves in an extraordinary after-life adventure when they join the Bureau of Otherworldly Operations (B.O.O.), the ghost world’s elite counter-haunting unit. The movie is directed by Tony Leondis and will be released on June 5th, 2015. The other one is BBC Earth Films' upcoming ENCHANTED KINGDOM 3D, which is directed by Patrick Morris and Neil Nightingale and provides a never-before-seen perspective of the African continent using groundbreaking new 3D technology. Patrick Doyle is currently working on his score. So far there is no release date set, but it is expected later this year.
