Commentary
: In 2003 Guy Farley wrote one of his best
scores for italian TV movie about the life of Madre Teresa
(portrayed by Olivia Hussey). His score combines western orchestra
with indian instruments providing interesting basement for mostly
romantic score that would make John Barry proud. The score offers
numerous themes that are usually presented through various wind
instruments like western and ethnic flute or some occasional
moments of pure orchestral beauty. One of the main themes (heard
through out the album beginning with The Station piece) later become
Suzy's Theme in Cashback. Madre
Teresa was the last score recorded by renowned
engineer Mike Ross-Trevor at Whitfield Street Studios in London
before this stage was closed. Unfortunately the album, released by
Carosello Records in Italy, is long out of print and literaly
impossible to find.
Plot Summary: Mother Teresa - the movie: the
inspirational portrayal of Mother Teresa, a simple nun who became
one of the most significant personalities of the 20th Century. Armed
with a faith that could move mountains, Mother Teresa followed her
calling to help the poor, the lepers, the dying and the abandoned
children in the slums of Calcutta, challenging many authorities -
including the church - along the
way.
